DISCOVER THE SUCCESS STORY OF ATLANTEC – OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTRUMENTATION

In 2003, Rodrigo Pacheco, a German aerospace engineer and oceanographer, left his life in Europe behind and arrived in Brazil, driven by a passion for exploring the unknown and making a difference by turning challenges into opportunities.

Upon settling in Santa Catarina, he was hired to work at CIRAM-EPAGRI (Integrated Center for Environmental Resources of the Agricultural Research and Rural Extension Company of Santa Catarina). During his activities, he quickly identified a critical problem: local institutions faced significant barriers to performing maintenance and calibration of imported oceanographic equipment. Without specialized services in Brazil, these equipment became inoperable, leading to wasted resources and project delays.

  • Still in 2003

Faced with the opportunity to create something innovative in the field of Oceanographic Instrumentation, and driven by the belief that the impossible was merely an invitation for innovation, Rodrigo took the first steps to build what would become a reference company in the sector, founding Atlantec with the purpose of offering maintenance and calibration services directly in Brazil. This would eliminate the need to send equipment abroad and simplify processes. The beginning was modest; his first office was 30 square meters in the Campeche neighborhood of Florianópolis, where Rodrigo, with his entrepreneurial vision, welcomed a Petrobras delegation to negotiate a maintenance contract. That small space became the starting point for a future of expansion and innovation.

  • 2006

The turning point year, when Rodrigo established a partnership with Falmouth Scientific (FSI), a manufacturer of current meters and CTDs. He traveled to the United States, participated in intensive training, and returned to Brazil with the knowledge and certifications needed to establish the country's first Specialized Service Center for FSI equipment. It was a crucial moment that put Atlantec on the map and opened doors for future strategic partnerships.

  • 2008

New partnerships were formed, including collaboration with the German company 4H-Jena Engineering in 2008, bringing innovations such as the autonomous Ferrybox analyzer and Contros sensors to characterize the marine carbon system.

  • 2010

Atlantec took an even bigger leap by participating in the foundation of Drakkar Atlantec, a company focused on Teledyne RDI equipment, the world leader in the manufacturing of ADCPs and DVLs. This strategic move led to the closure of important contracts, including the first major agreement with Petrobras for the maintenance of Falmouth Scientific and Teledyne RDI equipment.

  • 2012

Gustavo Batistell, an electronics technician and former colleague of Rodrigo at CIRAM, accepted a job offer at Atlantec. Gustavo dedicated himself intensely to maintenance, adjustments, calibrations, and integration of oceanographic instrumentation and decided to pursue a degree in Electronic Engineering at UFSC. Over the years, Atlantec continued its growth trajectory, attracting talented and leading professionals.

  • 2014

The company's laboratory achieved ISO 17025 accreditation, which encompasses and covers other certifications such as ISO 9001, a milestone that raised the quality standards of the laboratory. Many achievements made Rodrigo feel gratitude and a desire to share his challenges and victories with people who demonstrated dedication and the same spirit of excellence as him. During this time, Murilo Montoni de Castro became a partner, bringing an administrative vision that helped further professionalize Atlantec's operations.

  • 2021

Recognized for his dedication and commitment to Atlantec, Gustavo Batistell's contributions were valued so significantly that, in 2021, he became a partner in the company. By this year, already established as a market leader, Atlantec expanded its facilities to a 250-square-meter space in the Carianos neighborhood, enabling the offering of more specialized services, such as motion sensor calibration. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Rodrigo and his team's resilience kept the company strong, preserving all jobs and continuing to provide high-quality services.

  • 2024

With a clear vision for the future, Rodrigo led a restructuring that unified all the company's products and services under a single name, giving rise to Atlantec – Oceanographic Instrumentation. This moment was marked by the launch of a new brand, symbolizing Atlantec's continuous evolution and commitment to innovation and excellence.
